Hi! I’m Trish and I am very pleased to “meet” you! I am the owner of The World Isn’t Flat which is an engaging, inspiring, and fun travel blog for any and all types of travel.
I would like to take this opportunity to answer a few of the most popular questions that I get on a day to day basis:
1. Why don’t you travel with your kids?
This is not necessarily my choice, however to get a child a passport, both parents have to sign and their other parents are not keen on the idea of them traveling outside the country. There are quite a few exceptions to this as we have taken them to Florida, tent camping and on a cruise. We are very lucky in that normally my mother in law will stay with the kids while Drew and I travel.
2. How do you afford to travel?
This is the funniest question I think I get. People have the misconception that travel is expensive, when if you look for good deals (think Groupon or TravelZoo) it’s actually cheaper than traveling to a different state in the U.S. We recently went to Iceland for two days and the roundtrip plane tickets were less than flying to New York from North Carolina (where we live).
3. Beyond running The World Isn’t Flat, what do you do for income?
I am a jack of all trades! I house sit, pet sit, transcribe, walk dogs, play with the stock market, and help my husband with his customizing business. Yes we are very busy, but very happy as well knowing we don’t have to work for anyone but ourselves!
4. Quick run down of the places you have traveled to?
For the United States: Indiana, New York, South Carolina, North Carolina, California, Georgia, Ohio, Nevada, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Hawaii and Florida
For International: Mexico, Ireland, Bahamas, Iceland, Jamaica, Canada, Italy, Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico, Portugal (Azores) and Costa Rica
5. Do you have a YouTube channel?
Yes I do, although I am not the best at uploading regularly. I am more of a writer than an actor! However if you want to check it out, click here.
6. Why do you travel?
I am not the person that thrives with routine, I love shaking things up and doing something new or going somewhere I haven’t been before. Staying in one spot is for some people, but not for me. There is too much beauty in the world to spend your life in one location.
