So we have decided our first trip will be about a week long and sometime in March. Somewhere between 5 – 9 days sounds about right for that perfect getaway. We have filled out the paperwork for our passports and are sending them off one by one while we are hammering down the childcare details.
And I am sure the next question you will ask is…where are we going? That is a great question and one I would love to answer, but I can’t. Well actually I can, the answer is: I don’t know.
It started about three days ago when I asked Drew what destination he was thinking of for our first trip. He didn’t have a clue, but he did have a list of places he wanted to go to “sometime”. We wrote down the places he wanted to go and I added a few of my own and we came up with a list that took up one notebook page. That started our quest to pick the perfect destination.
We researched the best places to go first, but everyone had their own opinion. We looked for deals on travel thinking we will just choose the place with the best deals. That didn’t work either because the more we looked for deals the more we realized there are great deals for anywhere and everywhere.
As we stared at the world map we bought and hung on the wall beside our bed, Drew came up with the awesome idea of throwing darts at it and wherever we hit is where we go first. This would have worked, except our dart throwing skills are not exactly up to par so we are stuck with holes in our wall and still no clue how to pick our first adventure.
In a last ditch effort to try to narrow down our list I asked Drew to help me make a pro and con list to going to a warmer climate or a colder climate thinking that traveling in March this would help narrow it down. Wouldn’t you know it, our lists came out tied. Even that didn’t help.
So while we still haven’t chosen that perfect destination as of now, we are moving forward with getting ready to travel. Choosing the destination will just have to for another day. Hopefully that day comes before March!
