Indianapolis Children’s Museum
This weekend we made a road trip to Indiana, and of course we had to stop at the Children’s Museum. The Indianapolis Children’s Museum is a 472,900 square foot facility and is the largest Children’s museum in the world. Definitely worth the trip, however plan on it being a full day! Pack a lunch and you can eat it in the cafeteria or buy the food there.
We started at the new exhibit. The Circus. So many choices! What to choose first? Of the tight rope was the first choice. And yes for all of you wondering I fell….a while half an inch to the floor. I also had a blast playing on the rings and the Roman ladder. While the Circus exhibit isn’t always at the museum it was in my opinion the best exhibit there.
After some fun at the circus we headed to China…. ok well the China exhibit. My daughters enjoyed learning to write Chinese and trying to cook Chinese, while I looked at the panda research center.
Next came the Science exhibit to look for cave animals and climb on the rock wall. There was water huge water table for children to play on and learn about the water system in Indiana, however it was closed for renovations.
Riding on the 100 year old carousel, learning about ancient tombs, touring an old train, and visiting the dinosaur center to dig up fossils were next on our list of things to see and do. That wasn’t even half the exhibits there however after five hours roaming around the museum we decided to call it quits for this visit. Trying to keep up with my daughters after a ten hour road trip was not easy!
