Week in Review
Welcome to my weekly post where I take a break from travel-related posts and I share about our life from last week and what we are loving and sometimes hating right now.
Where we traveled to
I had told you guys that we had scheduled a trip to New York last week. And we did, but we decided on Tuesday that one weekend was not enough in New York and we definitely needed two weekends, so we are in New York! We drove up on Thursday night, after work, so we could have two weekends. What I will say about traveling with our jobs is working with a laptop would be nice. We both have desktop computers through our companies that we have to work on so it takes up a lot of trunk space when packing, but we managed and we are here! We did not, however, get a chance to go to the North Carolina Museum of Art or Yates Mill so they have been put on a temporary hold.
We have gotten a chance to explore the Howe Caverns and the Vermont Old Country Store. We also made a small trip into Saratoga, but we are going to do that after work next week. Which leads me to….
Plans for the coming week
So many plans! I love getting a chance to really explore an area and there is so much to do in this part of New York. We are going to be exploring Saratoga after we finish working each day, and Saratoga has so much to offer! Over the weekend we are heading into New York City to see Timesquare and maybe a few other small sights. Now if you have followed our Italian adventures, you know we are not fond of crowds. I have very little hope we will spend a lot of time in the city, but we both really want to see at least a little of the city and Drew of course wants to look find a few comic book shops.
What I am loving this week
I am loving my old phone this week. That sounds really strange so let me explain. My Nokia 1520 has a cracked screen so I got an iPhone to replace it, but I have found that it’s camera is just not up to par with the Nokia. So I brought the old phone as my camera for the trip and I really miss having that camera! It has a 20 megapixel camera. I didn’t realize how much I relied on having that camera till I didn’t have it anymore!
What I am hating this week
My packing skills, or my lack of them to be exact. We always pack super light and usually I never have an issue, I research the weather and pack appropriately. This trip however was very last minute so I didn’t get a chance to research any weather but I figured, it was summer in New York so its shorts and tank tops weather like my North Carolina weather. We arrived and it was 68 degrees and raining. Since we arrived the high has not been over 80 and in the morning it’s bordering 70. I have learned my lesson the hard way. It only takes a moment to check the weather app….just do it!
