This is going to be a fun look at my month, so I can share with you things that I just can’t share with you guys anywhere else on my blog.
The Highlight Reel
Welcome to a quick rundown of my month! For our travels this month we spent a weekend tent camping at a new campground we discovered around Kerr Lake in northern North Carolina, and we also spent Mother’s Day at Kure Beach. In between the travels, I have worked really hard at getting a good solid income working as a transcriptionist and, of course, walking the dogs!
I have been in a little bit of a rut this month with writing posts, and I have decided I was going about it all wrong. I need to get more posts prewritten so I have my choice of which post I want to publish on each day. My goal for June is to get enough posts prewritten and scheduled so that when we hit the road for our three week road trip, my blog won’t suffer. It’s a stretch but I am working on it!
As for family life, my kids are about to get out of school for summer vacation, and I swear they are running around like they have lost their minds! What is it about the last two weeks of school that causes kids to melt down completely? I know for my kids the excitement of leaving for the summer (our kids spend their summer with their other parents) is a key factor, but it seems to be worse than last year…or is it just me?
And now onto the favorites for the month! Some are travel related and some aren’t, this is just everything combined! Let me know in the comments what you have been enjoying, especially books because I am always looking for a good read!
I really have to say Kure Beach was my favorite place we went to this month. Mostly because it wasn’t crowded. We had decided to go to Wilmington, because it was closer to us, and when we got there it was so crowded we couldn’t even find parking within a 10 minute walk to the beach. So we headed a little up the road to Kure Beach and not only did we get beach side parking, but we pretty much had the beach to ourselves on a beautiful 86 degree day!
Favorite photo taken
This one is just a normal photo of me and my kids at Kure Beach, but it’s my favorite because I don’t have a recent picture of my kids and me. I am usually the one behind the camera, but I finally got one and while our hair is in our faces and the sun was too bright to keep our eyes open, I have a photo of me and the kids for this year!
Stormproof matches. How did I not know about these before now? I failed at tent camping! Just kidding, but these are a life saver, and I do mean a lifesaver. These matches light in the rain, wind, you name it, and it lights. Not only that but you can literally dip the lit match into water and once it comes out of the water it relights…no joke! If you are planning on tent camping in an area it’s likely to rain these are a must. Even if you aren’t and you only RV camp or you just like an occasional bonfire outdoors, get these!
STOP WHINING AND START DOING! I am not sure who said this first, I googled it and there were so many people using this phrase. Just know it’s not mine, but it’s my new motto.
This is an oldy but goody. Nora Roberts Montana Sky. I found this book laying around in my garage and I picked it up and reread it. It’s such a good book, but I had forgotten how much I loved it! I don’t remember why I was out in the garage, but I am really happy I picked up this book again. If you like intrigue and romance this book is a winner!
